Since the spring of this year, many qualified specialists have left Russia for the near abroad. For some of them, it was enough to transfer their work to a remote mode, while someone still has to look for vacancies in local labor markets.
Ekaterina Starodubtseva, career consultant and founder of the Hurma Recruitment recruitment agency, spoke about the peculiarities of employment in the eastern regions and the requirements for specialists from abroad – especially for Daily Moscow.
Turkey
For most, work in Turkey is associated with seasonal employment and the tourism business. Animators, hostesses, administrators, guides – all of these, of course, are professions in demand during the holiday season, but the Turkish labor market is not limited to this at all. Today, Turkey is actively increasing international trade relations, therefore, it needs a qualified workforce on an ongoing basis.
In Turkey, financiers, marketers, IT specialists, as well as specialists in the hotel and restaurant business, for example, chefs, are in great demand.

It can be difficult for professionals from Russia to find work here – Turkish businesses are wary of foreigners. Here is a list of the minimum requirements for a candidate:
– Fluency in English. You won’t surprise anyone with this item now, however, if you plan to get a job in a company that is focused not only on the local market, then professional English will have to be improved;
– Experience in international companies. Professionals who have worked in large businesses, as a rule, have an idea of a developed corporate culture, a systematic approach to tasks, as well as experience in communication in a multicultural environment. All these factors can increase the speed of adaptation of the candidate and smooth out the process of getting used to a new culture;
– confirmation of the diploma. This paragraph applies to senior professionals. A Turkish employer may require an applicant to pass a vocational test, even if the diploma and work experience data has already been provided to him.
Dubai
Today it is one of the most popular destinations for emigration among Russians. This trend is due to a free tourist visa for 90 days with the possibility of extension and the fact that a large number of foreigners already live in the city, including the entire Russian-speaking community.
The Russians who emigrated to Dubai have always sought to open their own enterprises: beauty salons, cafes and shops where they could get the usual services.

Since the spring of this year, Russian business has been more than ever actively considering the UAE for the development of subdivisions. Many restaurant holdings and even consulting companies began to open their establishments in Dubai, thanks to which it became easier for emigrating Russians to find work.
But if you still want to get a job in a local company, then here’s what you need to know:
– In Dubai, you can get a job with a low level of English proficiency. If you are considering entry-level positions in, for example, the service industry, advanced English will not be a major requirement. However, it can turn out to be a serious advantage: according to statistics, candidates with knowledge of English and other foreign languages are paid more in the emirates;
– Set up a LinkedIn profile. This social network has long been used as a job search platform, especially abroad. Thanks to her, you can easily get into the professional community and make contacts that will certainly come in handy in finding a dream job;
– show the employer that you intend to stay in the emirate for more than a year. In Dubai, the minimum term of an employment contract is one year: employers there value stability and try their best to avoid staff turnover. So if you want to improve your chances of getting hired, let the company know that you are planning to stay here.
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan
The countries of the post-Soviet space have become very popular destinations for emigration among Russians, at least because they have a familiar language environment: almost everyone speaks Russian, and no one requires knowledge of the local dialect.
However, a large influx of visitors provoked the formation of an “employer’s market”.
Due to the shortage of vacancies in the local market, most Russians have to look for remote work in Russia.

If, nevertheless, you are not considering the option of remote work, but plan to find a job in one of these countries, then you should know the following:
– Now there is a demand for specialists who can set up and systematize business processes. Business in Central Asia began to develop rapidly, and in order to scale it, companies need employees who can set the structure of the workflow, competently communicate tasks and work on them together with the team;
– Experience working with government agencies is essential. If you are applying for a top manager position, this requirement is mandatory. Today in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, business and government structures have a rather complicated relationship. To deal with all the approval processes as quickly as possible, companies are looking for people who have experience in GR;
– Employers do not always undertake registration. Unlike Dubai and Turkey, where companies usually do their own registration through local agencies, here you have to take care of it yourself. Registration is a nervous and slow process, so you should be patient;
— wages are lower than in Moscow. If you came from the capital and started looking for a job on your own, then most likely your salary expectations will not match reality. Living in the countries of Central Asia is cheaper in and of itself, and the “employer market” allows companies to set minimum salaries for entry and middle positions. However, if you are “hunted” by a local company, then the salary level will be much higher than the average.
When preparing to move to another country, it is better to deal with the issue of employment in advance and familiarize yourself with the local market. You can search for vacancies on your own using social networks, specialized resources or through friends.
If you can’t plan, and the move takes place in a short time, do not be afraid to contact recruitment specialists. The main thing in this matter is to correctly calculate your strength and assess the situation. But you definitely shouldn’t worry: qualified specialists are needed everywhere and always, the eastern regions are no exception.
