Every year the NFL is becoming more and more popular in all over the World especially in United States and United kingdom. If before the audience at least a little, but “connected” to American football to the Super Bowl, now there are already thousands, and even tens of thousands of Russians watching the regular season. And this year it promises to be unusually interesting and rich in intrigue.
TImes News tells what to expect from the new NFL season, which starts on the night of September 8-9, shows the tournament schedule and division tables of the most popular league in North America

Who plays in the 2022 NFL?
There are 32 clubs in the NFL. They are divided according to the historical principle into two conferences – NFC and AFC. Each of them consists of 4 divisions, compiled for geographical reasons. Like all American leagues, the NFL is a closed organization, no one is relegated.
Each club plays 17 games in 18 weeks of the regular season. Such a small number of games compared to other sports is associated with a high injury rate. Owners, NFL management, sponsors and television have long wanted to increase the length of the season, but the players themselves are vehemently opposed.
Although there are already some shifts: until last season, the regular season consisted of only 16 meetings. This is partly why the NFL is so popular in North America and increasingly beloved in South America, Asia, and Europe. Each match is very important, any mistake can cost a place in the playoffs.

The playoffs in the NFL are separate: first they find out the strongest club in the conference, and then they meet in the Super Bowl. The regular season will end on the first weekend of January, and the biggest game of the year will take place on February 12 in Glendale, Arizona at the 70,000-seat State Farm stadium.
Only 7 teams out of 16 will qualify for the playoffs in each conference. The top clubs in the NFC and AFC will miss the first round of the post-season. In total, the division winners (4 in each conference) and the top three remaining teams will advance to the playoffs. The winners of the conference in the first round of elimination will host the teams at home, so in the NFL the fight goes to the very end.

2022 NFL season favorites
The current Super Bowl winner is the Los Angeles Rams. The team bet everything on winning, including partly their future: the Californians gathered a dream team, left without draft capital for years to come. Experts believe that the Rams will burn this year as well, at least they will reach the conference finals.
There is no universally recognized favorite of the season, but all the same, the Buffalo Bills stand out against the background of everyone. The coaching staff has been gathering the team for several years, and now it is at the peak of its capabilities. Even a loss in the conference finals will not be considered a successful result at the end of the season.

Other interesting teams include the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and, of course, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, along with perpetual quarterback Tom Brady. Separately, it is worth dwelling on the AFC West division, where Kansas City plays. This is one of the most lethal divisions in the history of the league and probably the entire sport. Each of the three rivals of the tournament favorite – Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos – claims not only to reach the playoffs, but also to the Super Bowl.
Approximate playoff layouts can be given in a few months, but the full list of post-season participants will be known after the final game of the regular season – there is no such thing in the NFL that the favorites are strongly separated from everyone else.
2022 NFL Schedule & Results
NFL games will take place every week on Thursday night (Thursday Night Football), Sunday (main game day) and Monday (Monday Night Football). The last two rounds also take place on Saturdays. Such a strict division by day of the week, on the one hand, reduces the level of possible income from TV, and on the other hand, it does not allow suing the league.
Yes, the US has very strict antitrust laws. And if the NFL, by far the richest and most powerful league in the country, plays games all week, especially on Saturday, it could be sued by other sports organizations. First of all, the NCAA, which governs college football.
Five matches of the regular season will be moved to other countries at once: three games will be held in London, and one each in Mexico City and Munich. For the first time in history, an official NFL game will take place in continental Europe – the result of the active expansion of the league.
Games on Thursdays and Mondays are held late at night Moscow time. But on Sunday, the game day starts at 20:00 Moscow time (after November – at 21:00 Moscow time due to America’s transition to winter time). So the Russians can watch most of the season without compromising their sleep.
