Pop star Lee Ryan, a member of the band Blue, has been found guilty of racially aggravated assault after making inappropriate and offensive comments to a black flight attendant.
The incident occurred on a British Airways flight from Glasgow to London City airport in July of last year, during which Ryan, who was reportedly “slurring his words and staggering around” after drinking a bottle of port, made offensive comments about the flight attendant’s looks and grabbed her wrists.
Ryan was also found guilty of being drunk on an aircraft, assaulting a police officer, and behaving in an abusive manner towards the flight attendant. He expressed remorse for his actions in court, stating that his comments were made in a drunken state and were not intended to be racist.
